SMS Lucknow Signs MoU with IIT Bombay-Linked Initiatives, Establishes Spoken Tutorial Skill Accelerator Lab

Lucknow: In a significant step towards strengthening technical education and skill development, School of Management Sciences (SMS), Lucknow signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Spoken Tutorial Project, EduPyramids, and the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), IIT Bombay. The collaboration is aimed at enhancing the technical competencies of students and faculty members while promoting industry-oriented learning and employability skills.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Ashish Bhatnagar, Director, SMS Lucknow, and Mrs. Renu Singh, Manager (Training), Spoken Tutorial Project, EduPyramids and SINE, IIT Bombay.

As a major outcome of the partnership, a Spoken Tutorial Skill Accelerator Lab has been established on the SMS Lucknow campus. The facility was inaugurated by Renu Singh, who highlighted the growing importance of open-source technologies in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. She encouraged students to utilize the platform to acquire practical, industry-relevant skills that can significantly enhance their career prospects.

Under the agreement, students, faculty members and staff will gain access to more than 125 open-source software courses and learning modules through the Spoken Tutorial platform. The initiative will offer structured training and certification programmes designed to equip participants with practical technical expertise aligned with current industry requirements. Successful candidates will receive certificates from IIT Bombay, adding substantial value to their academic and professional credentials.

Addressing the gathering, Sharad Singh, CEO and Secretary, SMS Lucknow, congratulated the institution on the landmark collaboration. He emphasized SMS Lucknow’s commitment to nurturing a skilled, innovative and industry-ready workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of the global economy. He expressed confidence that the partnership would create new opportunities for learning, innovation and professional growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashish Bhatnagar described the collaboration with IIT Bombay-linked initiatives as a major milestone in advancing the quality of technical education and fostering innovation-driven learning. He noted that the initiative would contribute significantly to strengthening digital literacy, practical training and technological excellence among students.

Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Raj Singh, Director General (Technical), SMS Lucknow, highlighted the particular relevance of the Spoken Tutorial programmes for students from rural and semi-urban backgrounds. He observed that such initiatives play an important role in enhancing communication skills, technical competence and self-confidence, thereby preparing students to successfully navigate future professional and technological challenges.

The programme was attended by Dr. Dharmendra Singh, Associate Director; Dr. P. K. Singh, Dean–Student Welfare; Chief General Managers; Heads of Departments; faculty members; and a large number of students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Dharmendra Singh, followed by the National Anthem.

The collaboration reflects SMS Lucknow’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, skill development and the vision of building a technologically empowered and self-reliant India.
